  • My NAUI Bio

I am a green minded vegetarian, photographer, and a Home Builder by trade. I teach Scuba at the local college as well as also instructing for Handicapped Scuba Association, Diver Alert Network and Reef Check California, a marine science based nonprofit. NAUI is safety through education, HAS is about access and adaptation, DAN's ethos is training and preparedness to deal with a dynamic and sometimes hazardous environment, and Reef Check California’s mission is to help preserve and protect our coastal reefs by training already certified recreational divers the skills required of science divers.
RCCA divers collect data used in making measured decisions on how to manage and protect our coastal marine ecology. Reef Check California’s intent is not to remove mans influence from our Reefs, but build a quantifiable understanding of how we affect it’s balance. No fisherman wants to catch the last fish.
I believe in the necessity of marine stewardship. For me, teaching people how to dive is important because I believe only divers can fully appreciate what lies beneath the waves. Divers see the world differently. The ocean becomes three dimensional. As their experiences in the ocean unfold, I hope they will love what they discover and want to protect what they love. In a terrestrial world of few frontiers, the ocean is full of veiled secrets to be revealed. For me earth’s greatest frontier is breath of air and a leap away.
