NAUI Sources Mag Goes Blog, Welcomes Diver Submissions

Tampa, Fla. (April 15, 2019) – The National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) Worldwide is excited to announce the complete transformation of its Sources magazine from a digital flipbook to an online blog publication, available at https://blog.naui.org/.

Sources: The Journal of Underwater Education is an international publication of the National Association of Underwater Instructors. Sources provides NAUI members, affiliate businesses, and divers around the world with member-contributed information covering topics like NAUI leadership and dive training practices, the aquatic environment, diving education, dive career development, dive culture, business development, equipment innovation, and more.

The Sources overhaul comes from a detailed marketing plan designed to increase awareness and reach from a member-based audience to a public viewership accessible from all platforms (desktop, tablet, smartphone) directly from NAUI’s website homepage at www.naui.org.

The intent is to improve the reach and awareness of NAUI training and education to members and the general public. The changes will allow the Association to do several things: reach readers in a timelier and more immediate manner; designate articles and notices as “Members Only” or “Public;” publish in whole and/or in parts; have more easily recognizable special sections; broadcast shorter notices.

Prior issues of Sources (and its predecessor NAUI News) dating back to the 1970s remain accessible in the Member Resources area of NAUI CORE.

This is an exciting time for members and divers. Consider assisting Sources editors with global communications efforts by submitting content for publication! NAUI leaders maintain the flexibility to write on any topic specific to their field of expertise and are encouraged now more than ever to provide blog material. Unchanged, members will continue to receive remuneration in the form of product credit for contributions published, as outlined in the Sources Contributor Guidelines.

Throughout NAUI’s rich history, it’s been NAUI pioneers who have been the innovators at every step, and that tradition continues with this transformation. With member contributions and by virtue of diver participation, the NAUI Sources evolution continues to advance as a resource in the diving community!

Interested in Submitting Content?

To improve the reach and awareness of NAUI happenings, our submission guidelines have been carefully crafted to facilitate the editorial process of publishing articles online.

NAUI members have the flexibility to write on any topic, specific to their field of expertise. We appreciate articles that introduce new ideas and advance conversation around topics and trends that engage our readers—think op-ed rather than marketing. NAUI prefers submissions from contributors who are leaders in and knowledgeable about the types of industries and topics the publication regularly covers. Contributed stories that touch on topics like leadership and dive training practices, the aquatic environment, diving education, dive career development and culture, dive shop career strategy, and equipment innovation are particularly popular with our readers, especially if there is a salient takeaway for other dive business professionals. We appreciate lively, polished writing that balances research or news with fun and memorable anecdotes or examples that help illustrate a point of view. While we encourage drawing from your own experiences in business to support your ideas, the articles should mention NAUI-related course/training/educational material. When possible, articles should be accompanied by relevant and engaging, high-resolution images.

Submitting an Article
An email message with the article/images as an attachment to NAUI Sources should be sent to gro.i1732280811uan@s1732280811ecruo1732280811s1732280811. Include “Sources Submission” in the subject line. The message should include the author’s name, the title of the article, accompanying high-resolution photos (with captions and attribution info), and any relevant information about the author/co-author, including institutional affiliation, membership numbers, and optional contact information (if not already included in the article).
