We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our NAUI family – Courtlandt Butts! Effective immediately, Courtlandt has been appointed to the NAUI Board of Directors, filling the remaining one-year term left vacant by Susan MacDonald earlier this year.
Courtlandt is a lifelong educator with a rich background and the founder of LifeGuardian WorldWide, LLC. He is also a proud graduate of Florida A&M University (FAMU) and the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). His journey as an educator includes a tenure track position at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, where he emphasized urban education, advocacy, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
Beyond the classroom, Courtlandt serves his community by providing aquatic services, acting as a faculty-level trainer for the YMCA and American Red Cross. His passion extends to SCUBA diving instruction, focusing on underrepresented populations and divers with special needs. This commitment aligns seamlessly with his interest in environmental justice, as he prepares the youth to become ocean stewards and citizen scientists.
Join us in extending a warm welcome to Courtlandt as we eagerly anticipate the valuable contributions he will bring to the Board over the coming year. We are grateful to all members who expressed interest in the vacant position, and we appreciate your ongoing commitment to the success of our organization.
Here’s to a fantastic year ahead with Courtlandt Butts on board!
